Lieber Laut
A Modern Noisy Cube
(the search for funding continues)

about
An echo chamber design that interacts with the people entering it. The cube-shaped room to be set up in the middle of the city or an exhibition area; It allows you to hear the sounds that you cannot hear when you are outside, loudly when you go inside. In the room where you can hear political, sexist, humiliating and malicious sounds intensely with a sound design, you can suppress the sounds only when you shout loudly.
(when you reach a certain decibel level)
While suppressing sounds is a top priority in the room where you can interact with loud noises, we can see it as a rebellion against our silence in everyday life, or a way to relieve stress.
Most of the time, it would be best to describe it as a rebellion against other people making decisions about our lives, making criticism, trying to suppress us willingly or unwillingly.
director's statement
“Lieber Laut” is an experiential art installation that transforms suppressed voices into a collective outcry for freedom and expression. Enclosed within a transparent cube, this space invites participants to engage with silenced political, gendered, and aggressive sounds at amplified levels, challenging the boundaries of tolerance and repression.
The act of shouting within the cube becomes both a personal catharsis and a defiance against societal silencing. By isolating these sounds while making them visible, “Lieber Laut” reflects the tension between transparency and concealment, individuality and collective struggle.
This work is a call to action, urging viewers to confront discomfort, embrace vulnerability, and reclaim their voices in the face of oppressive silence. Through its raw immediacy, “Lieber Laut” transcends its physical form to resonate as a bold statement of empowerment and the human need for self-expression.
