Between 2018 and 2019, during my semi-world tour across the Balkans, Europe, and South America, I captured the essence of shared spaces in the hostels I called home. This mini photo book is the result.
Common areas—spaces where travelers connect, stories intertwine, and moments are shared. A glimpse into the universal, captured through my lens.
artistic statement
These spaces, found in hostels around the world, serve as a hub for travelers to gather, relax, and connect with others.
The common area is where new friendships are formed and old ones are rekindled. It's where travelers share stories of their adventures, exchange tips and advice, and learn about different cultures. It's a place of laughter, curiosity, and open-mindedness.
But the common area is more than just a social gathering spot. It's also a place of practicality, with amenities like kitchens, laundry facilities, and computers available for use. It's a place of comfort and familiarity for those who are far from home, a temporary home away from home.
Through my art, I invite you to step into the world of the hostel communal space and experience the joy, camaraderie and sense of community it brings. We hope you will leave the book with a new appreciation for this unique and special space.
